Bollywood  is a term that refers to the Hindi-language film industry based in the Indian city of Mumbai, which used to be called Bombay. Bombay + Hollywood = Bollywood . The term is believed to have been coined by a journalist in the 1970s.

On the other hand,  Bollywood  is centered on family, drama, and music. ... Hollywood  movies are shorter (two hours) while a  Bollywood  film is longer (three hours) and comes with an intermission.  Bollywood  makes more films, but Hollywood  has larger movie earnings and spends more on movie production.

In 1899 the first Indian short film was screened, and Bollywood was born. Just like in Hollywood the films were silent to begin with, then in the  1930s  the films became 'talkies'. Many Indians came to live and work in Britain around fifty years ago, and they brought their culture with them.

Bollywood  film  music  is called filmi  music  (from Hindi, meaning "of films"). Songs from  Bollywood  movies are generally pre-recorded by professional playback singers, with the actors then lip synching the words to the song on-screen, often while dancing.

A look at why Kumar is  King  and  King  is Kumar. Akshay Kumar has done enough to stake his claim as the new  King of Bollywood . We have seen the dominance of a Shahenshah (Amitabh Bachchan), a  King  Khan (Shah Rukh Khan), a Sultan (salman Khan) and a Perfectionist (Aamir Khan).

Shah Rukh Khan 53.78% Salman Khan 28.75% Ranveer Singh 10.65% Ranbir Kapoor 2.15% Shahid Kapoor 2.15% Varun Dhawan 1.62% Aamir Khan 0.9%

Baadshah (translation: King) is a 1999 Bollywood action film film directed by Abbas-Mustan. The film stars  Shah Rukh Khan  opposite Twinkle Khanna in lead roles. It was released on 27 August 1999.

Superstar  Salman Khan , who has been delivering hit films back-to-back, feels his arch rival  Shah Rukh Khan  is the 'King of Bollywood'.  Salman  has become the first Bollywood actor to give seven Rs 100 crore hit films in a row, including his recent release 'Kick'.

Move over  Shah Rukh Khan ,  Salman Khan  is the new  King Khan ! The nickname has been reserved for  Shah Rukh Khan  for a long time now, but it looks like Salman  is taking over. The Bollywood superstar is not only back as a romantic and action hero, but is also ruling the box office in India and overseas.

Purely etymologically, Bollywood is a portmanteau of " Bombay " and " Hollywood ." [1] Bombay  (or  Mumbai , Maharashtra, India, as it is known now) is the city where the Hindi film industry is located. The term "Bollywood" has origins in the 1970s.

If you are talking about the one who's almost each movie becomes a hit then it's definitely "The khans". They have undoubtedly given some of the great hits like "3 Idiots" by Aamir Khan, "Chak de India" by  Shahrukh Khan  and "Sultan" by  Salman Khan  but according to me, the true superstar of Bollywood is  Akshay Kumar .

Bollywood stands for Bombay film industry (Hindi),  Kollywood  for  Tamil  ( Kodambakkam is a part of Chennai city and it is here the film studios producing Tamil  films are concentrated ), Tollywood stands for the Telugu film industry located in Hyderabad city.
